 BILL BITTEL - PRINCIPAL

Professional Experience

Bill earned his Electrical Engineering degree at the Rochester Institute of Technology, majoring in Digital Systems Design with a minor in Computer Science. Since then, he has worked in a number of A/V disciplines including design and construction of large-scale touring and theme park audio systems. Bill has been directly involved in the construction of numerous major theme parks in the US, Japan Europe and South Korea. More recently, he was Senior A/V Engineer for Universal Studios' Islands of Adventure Theme Park. Bill was also the Senior Vice President of Showorks Systems in Orlando, Florida. Under Bill's direction, the company averaged $17 Million per year in Audio/Video design and installation contracting. In June 0f 2002, Bill joined forces with Dennis Rambo and Robert Batten to form Design Systems Partners, LLC. DSP offers a variety of Audio/Video engineering and consulting services. Bill is currently a Principal member of DSP.

Relevant Experience

  • Design System Partners, LLC - Orlando, FL: Principal. Formed in June of 2002, Design Systems Partners, LLC (DSP) is an Orlando based group of Audio/Video Design Engineers and Programmers. DSP offers A/V contractors and Owners a variety of services including design, specification and RFP authoring, peer review, programming, Factory and Site Acceptance Testing. DSP can also provide CAD services, media production and transfer, and system commissioning. Bill is responsible for marketing, engineering, financial management, project and contract management. He is also currently working as a staff extension consultant for Universal Core Engineering and Universal Studios Japan.
  • Showorks Entertainment Group - Systems Division - Orlando, FL: Senior Vice President. Responsible for all operational aspects of the Systems contracting division. This included contract and scope review, proposal approval, and senior management of all project teams. Also involved in budget development, technical continuing education for employees, and interface to sales and marketing.
  • Universal Island's of Adventure - Orlando, FL: Senior Audio/Video Engineer. Developed A/V Performance and Hardware specifications. Assembled A/V Engineering management team and managed effort to develop budgets and Scopes of Work. Qualified design and fabrication/installation vendors, performed Factory and Site Acceptance Testing. Provided interface between A/V vendors and theme park development project teams. Provided solutions for various acoustical issues pertaining to the operation of a major theme park.
  • Porto Eurpoa - Wakayama, Japan: Project Manager. Provided all fabrication engineering necessary to construct and install 54 racks in theme park in Southern Japan. Interfaced with Universal project management and Japanese A/V engineers and installers as required to ship, install, program and commission audio systems for 3 themed attractions, area development audio and lighting control.
  • Star Quest, Earth Scape & Dream Home Pavilions - Taejon World Expo, Taejon South Korea: Project Manager/Design Engineer. Responsible for A/V systems design, CAD, acoustical modeling, fabrication, shipping, installation, programming, test, adjust and commissioning of A/V systems for 3 major attractions at the World Expo. Systems included a custom 8-channel DTS audio system locked to 70mm film for a motion-base theater, on-vehicle audio, a 40-foot by 20-foot rear projection system, and the re-creation of an outdoor natural environment inside a building.
  • Fantasmic - Disney Land, Anaheim CA: Project Manager. Responsible for fabrication engineering, fabrication, installation, test, adjust, programming and commissioning of Audio system for Disney's Fantasmic nighttime spectacular. System included Laser Disc and Solid State Audio Repeater playback synchronized to film, lighting and lasers, fiber-optic transmission of SMPTE time code, watercraft audio systems and 3 types of RF intercom.
  • ET-s Adventure, Universal Studios, Hollywood: Project Manager/Design Engineer. Responsible for design, fabrication, installation, test, adjust, programming and commissioning of Audio system for Universal Studio's ET's Adventure dark ride. System included Laser Disc and Solid State Audio Repeater playback for Preshow, Queue and 10 separate scenes.
  • San Rio Puroland - Tama, Japan: Project Manager/Design Engineer. Responsible for design, fabrication, installation, test, adjust, programming and commissioning of Audio routing and mixing systems (MLA) for various themed attractions at San Rio's Puroland Village. Responsible for integration of completed card frame sub-assemblies into Japanese provided equipment racks on site.
  • Universal Studios, Florida - 11 Attractions: Project Manager/Design Engineer. Responsible for design, fabrication, installation, test, adjust, programming and commissioning of Audio and Video systems for 11 attractions at Universal Studios Florida. Attractions included Animal Actors, ET, Jaws, Kongfrontation, Earthquake, Horror Makeup, Post Production, Hitchcock Theater, and Back to the Future (Intercom and Queue).
  • Pleasure Island - Disney, Orlando: Project Manager. Responsible for fabrication, installation, test, adjust, programming and commissioning of Audio systems for 6 themed nightclubs. Systems included special event interfaces, live stage reinforcement, animated puppets with video foldback, and a moving DJ booth with 3-axis motion flown from a bridge crane.
